European Cup for Climbing at EXTREMEX Festival

From 25 to 27 May 2012 European Youth Cup for Climbing to take place within the International Festival of accessible and elitist kinds of extreme sports, recreation and tourism EXTREMEX (May 24-27).

The competitions in disciplines "Speed" and "Difficulty" to take place in the show area in pavilion 4 of Sokolniki Exhibition and Convention Centre. The Cup will bring together over 130 athletes aged 14-19 from all over the world.

Among the participants of the Moscow stage of European Youth Cup-2012 will be the rising stars of rock climbing from Belgium, Norway, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Romania, Serbia, as well as the best athletes of Russia. They have to compete for medals in three age groups — Juniors: 1993/1994; Youth A: 1995/1996; Youth B: 1997/1998.

  • - winner of World Championship-2011, Polina Shelpakova (Tyumen Region)

  • - World’s Silver medalist-2011, Artem Saveliev (Tyumen Region)
  • - World’s Silver medalist-2011, Georgiy Artamonov (Sverdlovsk region)
  • - 2011 World Championship bronze medalist, Anastasia Klochkova (Moscow)
  • - 5-times winner of the stages of the Youth European Cup-2011, Anak Verhoeven (Belgium)
  • - 4-time winner and winner of the Youth European Cup-2011, Loïc Timmermans (Belgium)
  • - 3-time medalist of the stages of the Youth European Cup-2011, Tina Johnsen Hafsaas (Norway)
  • - 2-time winner of the Youth European Cup-2011, Jakob Heber Norum (Norway)
  • - Bronze medalist of the youth stage of European Cup-2011 in Veliko Turnovo, Stasa Gejo (Serbia).

Organizers of Youth European Cup: European Council of International Federation of Sportive Climbing (IFSC); Ministry for Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy, Committee of national and non-Olympic sports, Climbing Federation of Russia, Department of Physical Education and Sport in Moscow; Climbing Federation of Moscow.

To enter European Cup you need general tickets to EXTREMEX Festival at 200 rubles. They can be purchased at the entrance to the pavilion. The ticket is valid for all days of competitions and exhibitions. Recall that the European climbers will also participate in EXTREMEX show program, which will be held on May 26 at 8 p.m. Tickets for the show are now available on the websites: www.sokolniki.com, www.19-00.ru and at the box office of Sokolniki Park at prices ranging from 600 to 1,000 rubles.
