Source: Vecherniaya Moskva (Evening Moscow). The festival of extreme sports and leisure EXTREMEX. Independence will be held in Sokolniki park from 12th – 16th of June. There is a spectacular show-program, extreme-battles and workshops are prepared for the guests of the festival. Famous sportsmen will take part in the festival: Hugo Ariazu, the quad bike freestyle champion of Spain, and Daniel Bodin, the snowmobile freestyle champion of Sweden. Over the past few years the interest in extreme sports is quickly growing. Earlier, many kinds of extreme sports seemed rare for Russians; nowadays practicing extreme sports has become a trend. Sokolniki park having a very picturesque forest zone, ponds s and suburban microclimate had become a real Mecca of new kinds of sports development. Active sport will be confirmed as the main direction of Sokolniki park development in 2012. The launch of long-awaited summer extreme-park which also includes some grounds for active sports will take place on June 12th, within the festival. The park will include a skate-park, an artificial wave for surfing, a climbing wall, wake-boarding club, which will be located on Putyaevskie ponds and a ‘Panda-park’. Special tents will be set over the grounds to make riding possible in rainy weather. Moreover, the photo exhibition will be organized at the main alley and the exhibit of extreme equipment and techniques is to be showcased near the Fountain Square. Business events, autograph session and a mobile cinema where the profiles of different sports will be broadcast are planned for the festival. Most importantly, entrance to all the grounds of the festival will be free of charge. During the whole 5-day-festival RnB music will be playing for the guests. The most popular DJs will be responsible for the good mood of the guests playing their tracks at the Fountain and Festival Squares. DJ DaVlad, the best mash-up DJ in Russia will run the music of the whole festival. His asset is a number of successful projects in Sokolniki park: from the ice parties at the Led skating stadium to the beach parties within the super popular project The Bassein. The guests of the festival will also be such musicians as Ptakha, Slim, Bianca, Dino MC 47, St and even Detsl. The concert will take place on the main stage of the Festival Square on June 12 and 15, when DJs will play every day. A periodical rating of Moscow parks was published in February 2013.
