BIG AIR Snowboarding in Stuttgart

After the storming success of its January 2011 debut, Germany’s Relentless Energy Drink BIGAIR Stuttgart returns for its second edition in association with Quiksilver, bigger and better than before. BIGAIR brings world-class snowboarding to the heart of Stuttgart, in the impressive Neckarpark. The contest is Germany’s biggest snowboard session held on December, 17.

15 pro-riders and 16 newcomers were invited in Stuttgart. Semi-final Jam session took into account the results of the two best attempts. In the semifinal (8) and final (4) competitions all the participants were provided three attempts evaluated by official TTR judges according to two criteria “technique” and “style”. After the landing a staircases waiting for the riders and they can show their skills sliding down the combination of stairs and rails as artistic as possible. A jury is judging the jumps and tricks altogether. Big Air Stuttgart prize fund was 50,000 USD. The leading rider got 25,000 USD, the second – 12,500 USD, the third – 7,500 USD, and the forth – 5,000 USD.

The riders’ line-up for the second round of “Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart presented by Quiksilver” promised a competition on the highest level. Among the participants: Bod Merill (America), sixth in the Olympics and Quiksilver team rider, Markku Koski (Finland), as well as his fellow countrymen, Roope Tonteri (second in TTR ranking). Also attending: Quiksilver team-mate and Austrian Master in Halfpipe & Slopestyle Mathias Weissenbacher, Janni Korpi, Swedes Nils Arvidsson and Kevin Backstrom, Mario Käppeli from Switzerland, and highly acclaimed crowd pleaser and last Relentless BIGAIR Stuttgart's second placed rider, Austrian Werni Stock.

Among the young riders there were Simon Pircher, Tom Klocker, Max Glatzl, Thomas Feurstein and Florian Corzelius (AUT), Havard Bergheim (NOR), Sven Thorgren, Niklas Mattsson, Ludvig Billtoft and Anton Bilare (SWE),  Luka Jeromel (SLO), Boris Bühler (CH), Sami Luthanen (FIN), Felix Georgii, Dani Rajcsanyi and Max Horn (D).

The contest was finished by a great party in Zollamt Club.
